Happy Sixth Matthew!

Though we were pretty terrible at documenting it, I think that Matthew had a pretty exciting birthday. After working a lot of Christmas weekend, Jon decided to take the day off for a entire day long celebration of Matthew. We started the morning with red eggy pancakes per Matthew's request.

After a two hour search for adequate footwear, we headed up to the mountains for some sledding. Matthew quite enjoyed himself, Seth on the another hand was pretty miserable. He takes after me and hates to be cold! Jon and Matthew made several sledding runs while I hung out with Seth and tried to keep him happy. I honestly was more comfortable with Seth, it turns out that I'm pretty lousy at steering a sled and felt like was endangering children every time I made a run.

After sledding we cleaned ourselves up, put the finishing touches on the cake, and met up with most of the rest of the family for dinner at Red Robin.

After dinner, the celebration was relocated to our house for presents, cake, and ice cream. Matthew requested a policeman cake this year and wore his dress-ups to match the theme.
After the evening we all were pretty exhausted. With a birthday so closely following Christmas, sometimes I find it a challenge to make it seem special. But, I definitely think we were successful this year. In fact, I fear that we may have set the bar too high!
