At first, Matthew needed help figuring out how to use the club.
He quickly caught on and was anxious to do it himself.
By the end, Matthew was doing very well by himself. (Note at the end of the video how he just drops his club on the carpet. He had a hard time understanding that leaving you club lying around in the way was not the best etiquette.)
He was also working hard on his approach shot, until he found a much more efficient way of getting the ball within inches of the hole.
Poor Seth came with us, but didn't get to do any golfing. At least he got to ride around the entire course, right?
After golfing, Julie remembered there is a neat little bakery in Ballard called "Cupcake Royale." Their main item is cupcake--all kinds of flavors and colors. Their counter almost looks like a donut shop with so many different kinds of cupcakes all behind the glass. Matthew chose the one that had an American flag in it.
After all that fun, we had to get home to let Seth get another nap. We had a lot of fun together. We wish we had more of these "family fun" times to spend together. If only things like work and chores didn't get in the way so much...

Yeah for family fun days! It's always so nice to get away on a Saturday afternoon - especially when the weather is actually decent. We seem to have that problem too - we're going on almost 2 weeks solid of fog.

Hey - to answer your question about learning the A of F's... what we do is present a typed out version big enough to post on the wall by the kitchen table. Then I present/read it to the boys during FHE. We play the Primary song through, too. Then for the next four weeks (we decided that a month ought to be plenty of time), we try to recite it or sing it every morning when we do our scripture study. I also try to play the songs from time to time and on Sundays. Just lots and lots of repetition. Now that Caleb can read, he reads it to himself when he's eating breakfast and Brendan just learns the songs or learns it by rote from hearing it so much. I've honestly been pretty impressed that even he has been able to pull them off - although many times the hard words are a little off, but close enough, right? The deal was that if everyone can recite it by the end of the month, we will have a fun, surprise FHE together. So far, they've been pretty determined to do it each time and we've enjoyed some really fun outings and activities. It's been a really good experience. :)
