Space Needle
Elyse and I were lucky enough to come along with Matthew's exceptionally brave first grade teacher and her twenty-six students on a field trip to the Space Needle. After having a near accident with the metro bus on the morning trip, his teacher was feeling a bit anxious about taking her second group of 1st graders downtown on the bus. Thankfully there were ample parent volunteers, which made the bus ride a little less crazy. Although what I really should have gotten a picture of was the looks of distress on the other bus riders' faces as an entire classroom of 1st graders piled on.
The morning's weather had been a little iffy, but by the time we made it to the Needle, the sun was shining. Matthew and his classmates were able to spot everything on their lists besides Mt. Baker and Mt. Rainer from the observation deck. Such a fun way to spend an afternoon, to talk about directions, and to read a real "map!"

Brushing Your Teeth is Fun to Do
The boys had their semi-annual trip to the dentist this week. Matthew is a great teeth brusher, so much so that we generally don't even have to help him anymore. Seth is another story. His teeth brushing consistent of sucking the toothpaste off the toothbrush and then making in near impossible for us to help him "finish up" brushing his teeth. So, I wasn't really looking forward to the discussing with the hygienist and dentist the tartar and plaque built up on his teeth. Thankfully, they went pretty easy on me and attempted to be stern with Seth about letting his parents brush his teeth. As a fun incentive, they gave Sethie some of those pink tablets to chew on before brushing so you can see the spots that you miss.
Well, this morning after sending Seth up to brush his teeth (his dentist gave us the go ahead to let him "brush" all by himself in the morning, apparently the morning brushing doesn't matter as much?) he came down looking like this:
It turns out that he was a bit confused about the sequence, he thought the tablet came after the brushing. Oh Seth! The picture really doesn't do justice! Now, he's had a least one really good morning cleaning in the last six months. That stuff is hard to get off!
