To celebrate the first day of school we went to a Mariners' game. Okay, it was just coincidence that the game was on the first day of school. We got the tickets as part of a Grand Slam Family Pack; we got four view reserve seats, four hot dogs, and four sodas all for $55. Since Seth doesn't need his own seat Matthew invited his friend Summer to join us.
Well, Seth decided to take his only nap of the day one-half hour before we were supposed to leave to pick up Summer and Jon. So, I let him sleep and consequently we were a little late to the 3:40pm start game. Luckily the kids didn't seem to mind. After taking a million escalators to our seats (remember view reserve) we broke out some snacks (Thanks Summer!) and "watched" about ten minutes of the game before Summer and Matthew thought it would be a good idea to check out the stadium playground. They played there well into the 6th inning (unfortunately I didn't get any pictures) before they decided that they were ready for their hot dogs. We headed back up all those escalators and Jon took Summer and Matthew to get their dogs and drinks, which they enjoyed thoroughly.

After eating enough hot dog, apples, and carrots to qualify for and extra treat (as if they didn't have enough sugar already), pushover Mama got Summer and Matthew some cotton candy right before the concessions closed.

So, in the short time we were at the field (total game time was around 2.5 hours and we were late) Summer and Matthew managed to avoid watching most of the game. Matthew later commented that it was one of the best baseball games that he had ever attended; I think it's probably because he didn't have to watch much of the game!
And the one token picture of Seth and Jon:

It looks like everyone had a blast, how fun :) !! (And I had no idea there was a playground at the ball park. What a novel idea!)
Summer has been staring at these pictures for like ten minutes. I think she's also thinking now that Madeline is moving to Rexburg, she has a chance...!
It looks like they had a good time. I really like the picture of matthew eating his hot dog. I'm so jelous. I have always wanted a hot dog at a baseball game.
