Everett Children's Museum

I've been wanting to check out the Everett Children's Museum for some time now. Rumor had it that it was better than the Seattle one. So we finally used our buy one, get one half price coupon from our Seattle membership to go Everett.

Despite having a bit of a rough morning, the sun shinning (I always feel guilty doing something inside when it's sunny during the winter because sunny, dry days are so rare), and the boys hardly deserving a fun adventure, we packed a lunch and headed up to Everett.

It was well worth the trip. Both Matthew and Seth loved it. By far, Matthew spent most the time in the plane; he was wearing his astronaut dress up that day. Although the train tracks, archeological excavation pit, water area, and construction zone were also favorites. Seth was pretty happy anywhere, but enjoyed some time away from larger, more pushy kids in the 0-3 firetruck play area.

Again, I failed at accurately capturing the boys at play, but here are the few token pictures to prove that they really did have fun!

Sharks and Trains

We sort of got a late start to our adventure day on Thursday, plus the weather didn't cooperate the way I was hoping it would, so we (meaning I) decided that the day would be spent at home. To make it more interesting and exciting, I let the boys bring train tracks and blocks upstairs. We moved all the furniture (the chairs are always on the counters or tables these days, anyway) and built a big, elevated train track.
I love how Seth enlists the help of his dog to play with trains.
Much to Matthew's relief, Seth is getting quite good at pushing trains along the track without destroying it.
Matthew decided that the entire family should wear Sharks attire that day. Coincidentally, the Sharks played and won 8-5 that night. I think that we must be good luck.

More Sunshine

I've been pleasantly surprised by our winter this year. It's been so mild. With such good weather for the last couple of weeks, I was braced a ready for the rains to descend this week. While several days were rainy and while it was a lot cooler than last week (especially with the wind!), we still had some pretty good days.

On Wednesday afternoon, we headed off to play at the park. Matthew wanted to bring his excavator and dump truck as well as some sand toys. So, he figured that the best way to hull everything would be in his tractor. I really should have taken a picture or video of the tractor overflowing with toys and Matthew struggling to pedal it up the small hills (a picture of the Grinch and his sled full of loot comes to mind); but instead I took some pictures of the boys taking turns riding the tractor.
Seth is a little too small, but was fine with a little help!
Matthew, on the other hand, is getting too big for the tractor. But he still has fun. It's amazing to me that though there is a little more of a gap than I'd like between the boys, they still can enjoy and share the same things.

Dentist

Another trip to the dentist! Matthew is getting to be an old pro. I probably wouldn't post about it, except for the fact that this was Seth's first trip!

Matthew went first to show little brother how it works.
(Yes, Matthew is still wearing his fireman dress-ups at least once a week.)
At this visit, they also took x-rays of Matthew's teeth. We saw the x-rays and pictures of Matthew from last year and I was really surprised at how much he has grown up this year.

Then, it was Seth's turn. Since I sat in the chair with Seth, Matthew was our default photographer. Sorry about the fuzziness.
A little note about Seth's attire. We got out the 18-24 month bin of clothes and Seth immediately found these 3T Bob the Builder jammies. We purposely put these in the smaller size bin because they are the type of jammies that fit TIGHTLY. Matthew actually worn them when he was 2 1/2 and Jon barely survived the trauma of it (I looked for a picture of him in them but I think Jon destroyed them all). Well, Seth has fallen in love with Bob and pulls them out of the drawer everyday to wear them. I figured that since I indulge Matthew and let him wear his fireman costume around town, I can't very well deny Seth the chance at wearing Bob during the day every once and a while. I'm sort of expecting that these jammies will go missing at the hand of Jon sometime soon, anyway. So until that time, I might as well let him enjoy them. Besides, now Bob is part of Sethy's limited vocabulary. Yeah for more words!
