Matthew was so proud of all his accomplishments: turning the water on and off, holding the sprinkler upside down, spraying one or two streams high in the air, etc. It's so fun to watch him explore.

Sprinklers
Matthew got a new sprinkler today at the store. Julie has been taking him to water parks almost every day that the weather is nice. She figured that this would let him have some water fun without having to head out to a far-away park.

Just for Matthew
I am trying to figure out how to edit/customize the blog background, so until I can do something better that meets each of our needs, this one is for Matthew.

Preschool Graduation
Today was graduation at Matthew's preschool. The graduation was really cute. When they called a kid's name, the kid went up, received a crown, stood up alone on a platform while everyone cheered, and then received a diploma. It was nice that each child had a special moment.
Matthew had been very excited for his graduation over the last few days, and he had told us many times that he was so excited. Then, when it finally came, he wouldn't smile at all (not during the ceremony and not afterward). The place was so packed with family and friends that I couldn't get a good picture during the ceremony, but we took some afterward.
After his graduation, we celebrated by letting Matthew choose a place to pick up some lunch. He chose his favorite place--"The Star Place" (Carl's Jr.). He has also been eying a toy bucket truck at a local toy store for a few months, so we're going tomorrow to pick that up for his graduation present. We figured that if we went out to eat for Jon's graduation and he got presents, it was only fair to do the same for Matthew.

Matthew's Freestyle Jellyfish Rap
While Matthew was in California, he went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with Grammy and Heidi. While they were at the jellyfish exhibit, he thought that the jellyfish were "dancing" in their glass tank. Not wanting to be left out of the dancing, he improvised his own little song and dance routine. Here are the lyrics, in case you can't understand his craziness:
Jellies in the car.
Jellies in the car.
Jellies in the car.
*****
Jellies in the car.
Jellies ON the car.
Jellies IN the car.
Jellies OUT OF the car.
Jellies in the HOUSE.
In the water (inaudible)
Or on the train--CHOO, CHOO!
In the (inaudible), in the water,
(inaudible and/or gibberish)
*****
[Fall away to run into other people who are trying to peacefully enjoy the exhibit.]
We thought this really shows Matthew's personality: he's a bit spontaneous, very imaginative, very silly, and a bit crazy--all at the same time. The more we watch it, the more we see all of his little personality that we love so much.
